Carbon Fiber Blanks

Description

Our caliber carbon fiber blanks are custom built to your specifications. OMR’s blanks have a magnum taper, which is 1” at the muzzle, and a 1.20″ shank. Our blanks come threaded for brake, cap or suppressor. If you are running yours suppressed, most likely your suppressor uses 5/8″-24 muzzle threads, so be sure to choose that option. All our barrels & blanks are MADE IN MONTANA, USA.

The 3A thread fit (highest classification) has no allowance and smaller tolerances than the class 2A thread fit, resulting in a tighter fit ensuring proper muzzle device alignment.

All OMR carbon fiber blanks start with 416R Stainless, match grade, button rifled, hand lapped, stress relived blank. Every blank goes through our rigorous inspection process for tolerances, craftsmanship and material imperfections. Match Grade bore must measure within .0005″ of our standard diameter and groove cannot vary in diameter more than .0003″ for the length of the barrel. Once a blank passes this inspection, only then will it get carbon wrapped using the same state of the art materials and techniques that are employed in the Aerospace industry. We do all this to ensure You, our Customer the lightest, most accurate carbon fiber barrels available on the market today.

BARREL BLANK INSTALLATION:
OMR recommends 90-125 ft/lbs of torque to properly install barrels. OMR recommends using an action specific wrench for your install, along with a quality barrel vise. OMR recommends using proper caliber specific Go/NoGo gauges after tightening the barrel to check proper head space. Gauges can be rented from 4drentals.com
**ONLY CLAMP ON STEEL SHANK, NEVER ON THE CARBON.

BARREL BREAK-IN PROCEDURE:
The following procedure is recommended when breaking-in an Oregon Mountain Rifle Co barrel.

  1. Shoot 1 round and clean – Do this for the first 5 rounds
  2. Shoot 3 rounds and clean – Do this for the next 15 rounds
  3. Shoot 5 rounds and clean
  4. Shoot a fouler round
  5. Shoot 3 rounds for accuracy

NOTE: Allow the barrel to cool to ambient temperature before shooting each series of break-in rounds to avoid unnecessary throat erosion. Do not shoot your rifle in succession until the barrel is too hot to touch with a bare hand. DO NOT USE MOLY COATED BULLETS DURING BREAK-IN.

BARREL MAINTENANCE:
Once the barrel is broken in, remember to clean your barrel after approximately every 75 to 150 rounds; depending on caliber & bullet load to keep accuracy optimal. A dirty bore is a primary cause of poor accuracy. You know your rifle best, so use your best judgment.
