Due to variations in dimensions of the slot in the Tikka bolt body, the handles aren’t a drop-in fit for every rifle and often some basic fitting with a hand file is required. The area that fits into the bolt is machined to very tight tolerances (+/- 0.025mm) and will already be a very close fit to your bolt body which means minimal work is required to fit. After machining we test fit the dovetail of every handle in an EDM wire cut ‘go’ and ‘no-go’ gauge, then they are test fitted to a disassembled factory bolt, so when removing material you only want to take an absolute bare minimum off and try refitting often. The finished result should be a tighter fit than your OEM handle. The drawing below highlights the two possible dimensions that will be binding. This doesn’t require any special skills and can be remedied within 5 to 10 minutes by careful filing using either a fine cut to universal cut steel hand file (don’t use a coarse cut file). Install sheet with diagram will be included with your bolt handle.
